The “new clinician” series incorporates federal and state regulations, reimbursement, person-centered care planning, chronic care management and an overview of OASIS-D (includes 1.5 hour webinar and an all-day in-person session). The three sessions are designed for clinicians (both nurses and therapists) who have been in home health care for at least three months. It is highly recommended that all programs be taken together for the best learning experience. ***However, the OASIS information may be taken separately by any RN or therapist (both new and seasoned) as it is an overview of OASIS-D. ***

Session 1- Solving the Puzzle: Documentation & Reimbursement – 10/3/19

Presenter: Margo Golas, MSN, CPHQ, NEA-BC, COS-C, Manager of Quality and Compliance, Middlesex Hospital Home Care

This session will clarify payers, eligibility and coverage for services, reimbursement, and federal and state regulations that impact care provision. Since documentation and healthcare costs are under state and national scrutiny, it is crucial that home health providers understand their role in providing quality care that’s cost-effective. Bring your tough questions regarding Face to Face Encounter, Therapy Reassessments and Medicare denial processes.

Session 2- Applying OASIS – 10/8/19

Presenter: Charlotte Steniger, RN, MSN, COS-C, CHAP, Qualidigm

The application of OASIS (Outcome and Assessment Information Set) is one of the most complex and confusing challenges for both new and seasoned home health clinicians.  With the addition of new data elements contained within the OASIS D that became effective January 1, 2019, accuracy in OASIS coding must be a primary focus.  This 2-part program will review the expectations from CMS, how to answer the many OASIS questions and offers practice scenarios to get “hands-on” experience using the OASIS tool for assessments. The training content is all based on new OASIS D data set.

The format will include a 1.5-hour webinar that covers basic OASIS D guidance and conventions that can be attended live or reviewed up to 3 weeks after and then a live all-day training covering the OASIS elements in detail.  The webinar attendance is a pre-requisite to attending the live all-day training

Session 3- Person-Centered Home Health Care Management – 10/9/19

Presenter: Jennifer LeDuc, RN, MSN, COS-C, Quality and Reimbursement Manager, Day Kimball Homecare

Health care reform is requiring better care resulting in better health at a lesser cost (the Triple Aim). Learn how expert person-centered care coordination, case management and interdisciplinary communication in home health are the keys to achieving the Triple Aim. Nurses and therapists will collaborate in this all-day session to hone their case management skills using real case examples as well as documentation, reimbursement and regulatory information learned from session one.
