Now that we have been working with PDGM for more than 2 months, now is the time to ensure your coding is accurate and supports the documentation in the medical record. Join us for this 3-part series that will improve your coding skills and support the reimbursement under PDGM.

**Participants are asked to have an ICD-10-CM manual available during the coding series for reference.

SESSION 1: CODING & DOCUMENTATION - SPRINT INTO ACTION

Review of any coding issues since the implementation of PDGM and a review of what doc­umentation needs to be present to support coding selection

            Objectives:

1. Identify hot topics in coding under PDGM

2. Determine what documentation needs to be present for up to 25 diagnoses

• Establishing medical necessity

3. Are you properly documenting when a questionable diagnosis is provided and later changed for billing

• Discussion of current best practice pro

 

SESSION 2: CODING - IT’S COMPLICATED

Coding patient complications can be a time-consuming process to “look-up” the correct code. Learn the tips for quickly coding complications

            Objectives:

1. Determine coding terminology to quickly access complications

2. Review clinical groupings and comorbidity adjustments for these areas

3. Test Your Knowledge Cases to review your coding skills

 

SESSION 3: UNDERSTANDING THE COMPLEXITIES OF CARDIOVASCULAR & RESPIRATORY CODING (*75 Minutes)

Many patients have multiple cardiac and respiratory diagnoses

            Objectives:

1. Understand the proper code assignment as primary or comorbidity for

cardiovascular diagnoses including CHF, CAD A-fib, Sequelae of CVA

• Includes updates & changes

2. Understand updated to respiratory coding as primary or comorbidity including COPD, asthma, emphysema

• Includes updates & changes

3. Review clinical groupings and comorbidity adjustments for these areas

4. Test Your Knowledge Cases to review your coding skills
